Ordering Information

Tax:

Tax is not charged for cold food items, like culinary spices and herbs.
There is no sales tax on orders shipped outside of the state of California.

There is an 8.5% sales tax on all elements of an order shipped to an address in California, that contain standard taxable items, like ceramics, books or cookware.

Payment:

We accept Visa and Master Card.
Money Orders and Checks ( Please allow 5-7 days for out of state checks to clear)

Phone and Fax Orders:

Please email us with the best time to contact you: between 8am and 7pm pacific standard time. Or you can phone us at 415-474-1633. Please leave us with a phone number and a time to contact you between 8am and 7pm PST and we will return your call promptly.

Canadian:

We do not accept Canadian Orders at this time.

Order Shipment confirmations:

Orders received by 2pm PST usually ship out within 48 hours. However, if there is an exception we will advise you when we confirm your order via our order confirmation service.

If you require that an order be shipped out by a certain date, please advise us by specifying the date in the message section the order form.

Shipping Options:

We ship our orders by the United States Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail. This service delivers to most areas of the continental United States within 2 days from the ship date.

Please allow a total of 4 to 5 days from the day you place your order for our standard delivery service.

Shipping costs are posted on the order form. Please consult the shipping chart for the cost to ship to your address. If you wish, you can specify overnight shipping. Overnight shipping will charged at the standard USPS Express Mail deliver rate, plus an expedited handling charge of $5.00.

If you specify overnight shipping please indicate the desired delivery date in the message area of the customer order form. We require 24 hours for an expedited order turnaround. Therefore, overnight orders should arrive two days from the date the order is placed.

Order Confirmation:

After we receive your order, you will receive an email confirmation, with a tracking number. As soon as the order ships you will then receive another email to confirm the shipment.

Multi- addresses

Unfortunately, multi- addresses can not be accommodated on one order form. If you wish to send the same or different items to multiple addresses, you will need to fill out a separate order for each addressee.

Returns:

If you are dissatisfied with any of our non-spice products, you can replace the item with a different item or you can return it for a refund for the purchase price to your credit card.

It is our policy to not accept returns on spice or seasoning products.

Please repack the non-spice item in its original packaging and follow these steps:

  1. Email our customer service department, customerservice@theoccasionalgourmet.com

Please supply:
Your name, email, person who purchased the item, packing list number or invoice number.

  1. You will receive a return authorization and the return address
  2. Return the purchase with an insured carrier: Federal Express, UPS.
  3. Retain the shipping receipt and keep it in safe place. This receipt will provide you with a recourse if the item is lost during shipping.
  4. Please note: We do not recommend that you send returns via the US Postal Service.

If an item is lost, it may take a fairly long time to receive a claim

  1. Items must be returned within 30 days of purchase.
  2. Refunds will not be issued without an authorization number
  3. Refunds on cookware or other non-spice items will not be issued if the item has been used to prepare food or has been “seasoned” in anticipation of use.
Shipping and handling fees are not refundable.
